Hello Parents! Thank you for sending in supplies and helping your child come to school prepared! We sent Daily Folders (Homework Folders) home on Thursday to practice the routine of taking them back and forth to school. Homework will officially begin on Monday. Your child will have a sight word list to practice, a Take-Home book to read, and a math story problem for each night of the week. All homework will be due on Fridays. Check Class Dojo to see if your child earned a point for Homework after the week ends (all homework must be completed to receive the Dojo point). Please sign up for Class Dojo is you have not already. I sent email requests to you for easy sign up! We will use Class Dojo to document behavior throughout the day. Meet the Teacher

Greetings from room 1425 and welcome to a busy first grade year at Lake Myra! I would like to tell you a little about myself. My name is Kari Williams and I am originally from Binghamton, NY. I moved to NC to attend East Carolina University (ECU) in 1996. After graduation I worked in the Hospitality Industry for a few years before going back to school for my education degree. I received my Masters in Elementary Education from ECU in 2005. I have taught 1st Grade in Wake County for the past 10 years. I received my National Board Certification in November of 2010. I live with my husband in Clayton, NC. I have an identical twin sister who also lives in Clayton, so if you see me out in public and I don’t say hello, it is probably my sister! My hobbies include reading, traveling, home renovations, photography, spending time at the beach, spending time with family and friends, cooking & eating, and playing with my cat, Kudo! I am so happy to be your teacher and for you to be part of our awesome class. This is going to be an incredible year! Let’s discover the leader in you!
